چکیده

A SAW gas sensor based on Zinc Oxide (ZnO) piezoelectric substrate is simulated and evaluated for the detection of dichloromethane (DCM) volatile organic compound (VOC). The study performed finite element method (FEM) using COMSOL Multiphysics software. obtained device response ZnO compared to one typical lithium niobate (LiNbO3) substrate. thin film polyisobutylene (PIB) membrane selected act as sensing layer. results reveal a linear behaviour resonance frequency downshift (i.e., sensitivity) versus investigated concentrations varying from 10 ppm 100 DCM gas. Additionally, by applying several thicknesses PIB ranging 0.3 μm 1.0 μm. observed shows less dependence thickness than LiNbO3 one.

SAW Parameter Extraction Using Finite Element Analysis

Surface acoustic wave devices apart from being small, rugged and reliable can also be used as wirelessly interrogatable and completely passive devices in hostile environments. As complex signal processing functions can be performed with a simple structure through the variation of electrode patterns they can power wireless sensors and actuators in a secure manner. It is important to develop exac...

A ZnO Nanorod Based Layered ZnO/64° YX LiNbO3 SAW Hydrogen Gas Sensor

A zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorod based surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensor has been developed and investigated towards hydrogen (H2) gas. The ZnO nanorods were deposited onto a layered ZnO/64° YX LiNbO3 substrate using a liquid solution method. Micro-characterization results revealed that the diameters of ZnO nanorods are around 100 and 40 nm on LiNbO3 and Au (metallization for electrodes), respective...

ZnO nanoparticles as sensing materials with high gas response for detection of n-butanol gas

The high crystallinity ZnO nanoparticles with an average particle diameter 30 nm have been successfully synthesized with a surfactant-mediated method. The cationic surfactant (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTAB) and the hydrous metal chlorides (ZnCl2⋅2H2O) appear to be the good candidates for obtaining a high yield of nanoparticles. The structural and morphological characterizations were carr...

The Effects of Nano In2O3 and ZnO on the CO Gas Detection of the SnO2 Sensor

The pellet-type SnO2 sensor was synthesized by the solid state method and the effects of additives such as nano ZnO (1-12 mol %) and nano In2O3 (1-10 mol %) on the CO gas sensitivity of sensor were investigated. The optimum sintering temperature was chosen 800°C because of the porosity content of the samples. The phase analysis and microstructure of the samples were studied by x-ray diffraction...
